Fees & Rebates

How to pay

Five pathways to session funding.

Most clients access therapy through Medicare's Better Access scheme. Depending on your circumstances, you may also be eligible for rebates or funded sessions through private health insurance, WorkCover Queensland, Victims Assist Queensland, or the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA).

A note

"An MHCP isn't a diagnosis or a label. It's a referral that lets Medicare contribute to your sessions — and it's reviewed by your GP, not us."

Medicare · Better Access

How to get a Mental Health Care Plan.

Five steps from a GP visit to claiming your first rebate. Most people complete it in a week.

  1. 01

    Book a longer GP appointment

Ask reception for a 20–40 minute consultation so there's time to discuss your mental health properly.

    20–40 minutes
  2. 02

    Talk through what's going on

Your GP will ask about your current concerns and history to understand how best to support you.

  3. 03

    Receive your MHCP & referral

If appropriate, your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician will prepare a Mental Health Care Plan and a referral to a psychologist.

  4. 04

    Send us your referral

Email us a copy or bring it to your first session so we can apply your Medicare rebate.

    Email · In person
  5. 05

    Book your sessions

Once we have your referral, your rebate is claimed directly through Medicare after each eligible session — usually back in your account within a few days.

Up to 10 rebated sessions / calendar year *(some exceptions)
Appointment cancellations

Life happens. Here's the fair print.

We ask for at least 48 hours' notice (two business days, excluding weekends) so we can offer the time to someone else. If we manage to fill your slot, no fee applies.

48+ hours' notice
No fee

Reschedule freely. Two business days or more before your session. No questions asked.

24–48 hours
50% of session fee

If we can't offer the time to another client.

Less than 24 hours
100% of session fee

Includes no-shows. Same rule applies if we can't fill the slot.

Fairness clause

If we're able to fill your appointment time with another client, no cancellation fee will apply — regardless of how much notice you gave.

The first step is often the hardest. We'll help make it feel easier.

Book a free 15-min introductory call

A brief conversation to explore whether therapy feels like the right fit for you. Many people appreciate the opportunity to speak with a psychologist before deciding whether to begin therapy.

During this call, you may wish to:

  • Briefly share what has been happening for you
  • Ask questions about the therapy process
  • Learn more about the approaches used (including IFS, EMDR, and trauma-informed therapies)
  • Explore whether the style and approach feel supportive and aligned with your needs

Please note: This is a short introductory conversation rather than a therapy session. Clinical assessment, therapeutic intervention, or personalised advice cannot be provided during this call.

There is no pressure or obligation to book ongoing therapy following the call.

If it feels like a good fit, we can then arrange a full appointment.
